Teen Events Team

Are you a creative and community-minded teen who wants to make a real impact at your library? Join the WPL Teen Events Team and help plan and host exciting programs and events for your fellow teens! Whether you're into art, program design, or just love getting involved, we've got a place for you. You'll have the chance to organize fun activities, help with events, and provide friendly service. Plus, we're all about giving back to the community through projects like food drives and climate action initiatives. If you're ready to make a difference, this is the team for you!

Garden Caretaker
Volunteer with WPL to play a vital role in ensuring that our Naturespace is a welcoming and accessible space for everyone. This role will ensure that the garden boxes in our outdoor space are cared for regularly so that they are a thriving part of our Eastside Branch environment and provide a place for customer enjoyment and learning.
Location: Eastside Branch
Timing (days, hours):  1-3 days a week, 1-2 hours at a time
Estimated Start Date: As soon as possible
Estimated End Date: End of September with potential for ongoing year-round support if there is knowledge of, or a desire to learn about hydroponics
Number of Positions Available:  2

What You’ll Do:
  • Water plantings in accessible garden boxes
  • Pull weeds
  • Start seedlings
  • Harvest, plant and transplant plants
Most gardening will take place in accessible, raised garden boxes.
Your Impact: This role will help to keep the Naturespace look inviting and cared for creating a welcoming and natural space for customers to enjoy. The work done by volunteers caring for the gardens and plants will directly help the bees at the Eastside Branch by providing sources of pollen.

What We’re Looking For:
  • Some gardening experience
  • Experience with a variety of plants, ranging from flowers to vegetables to succulents and more
  • Gardeners that have the ability to identify weeds, pests and diagnose growing issues in plants
